The family of a single mother who has been missing for nearly two weeks is waiting to see if a crime scene in Miami Gardens is connected to her disappearance.
Kameela Russell, 41, was last seen May 15 in the 800 block of NW 203rd Street, according to the Miami Gardens Police Department.
Since then, family members have been desperate for her safe return. Donna Blyden, Russell's aunt, was the last one to see her. She saw Russell's black Audi pull into her driveway to pick up her daughter to take her to gymnastics class.
"When I looked again five minutes after, she didn't come in, that's when I got worried," Blyden said.
Her family says it's unlike Russell to disappear. The single mother of two daughters didn't show up to her job as a test administrator and Miami Norland Senior High School for the rest of that week.
On Saturday, police pulled a badly decomposed body from a canal less than a mile away. The medical examiner is still trying to identify the body.
"We are still anticipating, you know, where there's breath there's hope and we just hope for a return," Blyden said.
