Hit-and-Run Driver Takes Boy She Struck to Hospital, Disappears: BSO

Authorities are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck a 4-year-old boy in Lauderdale Lakes and fled after bringing the child to the hospital.

Broward Sheriff's Office officials said the boy was walking with a woman and two other children in the 2700 block of North State Road 7 the afternoon of March 14 when a Chrysler 200 struck him and an occupied stroller. The stroller tipped into the northbound lanes of traffic but the toddler in the stroller wasn't hurt.

The driver stopped and said she would take the boy to the hospital, and drove the woman and three children to Plantation General, officials said. Surveillance footage showed her bringing the boy into the emergency room entrance before returning to her car and leaving without giving her information or calling police.

The boy's injuries were described as non-life threatening.

Officials are asking anyone with information on the driver to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
