FBI Impersonators Sought in Miami Lakes Home Invasion Robbery

Authorities are searching for a pair FBI impersonators who were caught on camera during a home invasion robbery in Miami Lakes last month.

The incident happened around noon on Jan. 30 at a home in the 15000 block of Northwest 87th Court, Miami-Dade Police said.

Police said two men arrived at a home in a white Chevy Silverado with a covered license plate and knocked on the door. A man who answered the door noticed one of the men was wearing a bulletproof vest with "FBI" on it, police said.

The suspects took the man and a woman who was also in the home to a bathroom and told them to stay inside. The victims left the bathroom a short time later and discovered that the suspects had fled.

Surveillance cameras showed the suspects leaving the home with multiple duffel bags. Police said they took about $30,000 worth of jewelry and sports memorabilia. The victims weren't injured.

"We feel like we were targeted actually, it wasn't just like a random crime," one of the victims, who didn't want to be identified, told NBC 6. "We're in fear of this happening again to anybody else."

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
