Dolphins Game Preview: Week 15 vs. Bills

The Dolphins will try to stay alive in the playoff race when they take on the Bills on Sunday

The Miami Dolphins will bring their slim playoff hopes into a game with the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

At 6-7, Miami is barely alive in the playoff chase and Buffalo is one of the teams it is chasing. The Bills are 7-6 and are currently in possession of a Wild Card position. Several teams besides Buffalo sit ahead of Miami, but a win in this one could go a long way.

The Dolphins are coming off a surprising win over the New England Patriots last week. With their backs against the wall, the Dolphins beat the Patriots 27-20 on Monday Night Football. The win kept Miami's season alive and likely gave the team a needed boost in confidence.

Buffalo hosted a game during a snowstorm last week, but there is currently no snow in the forecast for Sunday's game. Even without snow, the temperature for the game is expected to be in the 20s. These conditions give Buffalo an extra advantage, but Miami still does have some hope anyway.

Jay Cutler has played in cold conditions before and has experience with the feel of the ball. From his days with both the Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears, Cutler had to fight the elements multiple times. The football can feel harder and be tougher to throw in frigid weather and that could lead to plenty of short passes. Miami successfully used that part of the playbook in Monday's win.

Miami's defense got to New England quarterback Tom Brady eight times in the victory. Brady was hit or sacked a total of eight times and the Dolphins kept the pressure on the star all game long. The Dolphins picked up two turnovers to aid in the close win. A similar defensive effort could be needed in this one, in what could be a hard-hitting affair.

After missing last week's game, Buffalo will get quarterback Tyrod Taylor back for this one. Taylor has had a fine season, especially in home games for the Bills. With 12 touchdowns and four picks, Taylor has been more consistent and productive than Cutler.

Sunday's kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
