A mother is left heartbroken after her daughter was struck, and nearly killed, by a car while helping a motorist involved in a crash along I-75 in early August.
"The pain of seeing her like that, knowing what her life is and what it needs to be again," said Sandra Harwick, mother.
Davie Police sergeant Patricia Ravine, 35, ended up in a hospital's intensive care unit, after she went to help a driver involved in a roll over crash on Aug. 4th.
FHP troopers say that when Ravine exited her patrol car on the shoulder, she was hit by a Kia that had swerved to avoid hitting her patrol car and went onto the shoulder.
"Racing there everything went through in my mind when I heard she got hit by a car I thought she was dead," said Shawn Ravine, husband.
Her husband of four years, who's also an officer, rushed to be by her side and that's where he has been ever since the tragedy.
"She's the strongest woman I know very independent," says Shawn Ravine. "And it breaks my heart to see her like this I went to help her and I can't."

Following the crash, Ravine was airlifted to Broward Health Medical Center and was listed in stable condition inside the ICU.
"Now she's going to fight to walk again; it's that simple," says Shawn Ravine.
A Go Fund Me campaign has been set up by the Fraternal Order of Police for Sgt. Ravine. According to the page, the money raised will go towards preparing their house for the necessities that she will need due to her mobility restrictions and other various needs to facilitate a speedy and healthy recovery.
