The daughter of famed Cuban singer Willy Chirino is throwing her hat in the ring for one of the country's most watched congressional seats.
Angie Chirino is a performer herself, and she's looking to replace outgoing Republican congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, who has represented South Florida on Capitol Hill since 1989.
Chirino is making her announcement in Little Havana Thursday afternoon.
"I believe that my life tells the story of this community, so I want to go to Washington and be that voice, and I'm ready to do it," Chirino told NBC 6 in an exclusive interview. "It's a big seat but this is the opportunity that is presented to me and I'm ready, I'm ready for the challenge."
