Three men are facing charges following a botched armed robbery of a Miami food truck that ended with one of them hospitalized following a shootout with the truck's owner, authorities said.
Larry Ducksworth and Robert Britt, both 19, and Darius Alexander, 20, are facing armed robbery charges in Tuesday's incident in northwest Miami-Dade, police said.
According to police, Ducksworth and Britt were attempting to rob the Cafe Chirino food truck in the area of Northwest 35th Avenue and Northwest 65th Street when the truck's owner pulled out his own gun and started firing at Britt. The truck owner then exchanged gunfire with someone in a getaway car that was parked nearby, police said.
Britt fled the scene in the car driven by Alexander, but the car left before Ducksworth could get inside and he was stopped by a Good Samaritan and held at the scene until police arrived, officials said. Alexander drove Britt to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where Britt was treated for a gunshot wound to his arm, police said.
The driver of the food truck and his wife weren't injured in the exchange of gunfire.
Ducksworth and Alexander appeared in court Wednesday where they were ordered held without bond. Britt remained hospitalized and didn't appear in court. Attorney information wasn't available.
