Detectives told NBC6 the argument involved 15-year-old Nolan King and two other men. During the dispute, shots were fired and King was hit by the gunfire.

King was transported to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue where he died from his injuries.

Police said King and the other people involved knew each other.

"The subjects were known to the victim. They were here at this location together," said Miami-Dade Police Det. Andre Martin.

According to police, officers got a call about the shooting and a possible suspect car.

Minutes later they ended up finding the getaway car, but while attempting to stop the suspects, they bailed and ran away near South Dixie Highway and Southwest 104th Street.

The suspects, Jones and Mayo, were eventually caught and detained before they were booked into jail.

Police haven't said if the two will be charged in King's death.

Residents of the building where the shooting happened said they were shocked to hear of the violence.

"It made me cry this morning when I heard the news that he passed away, you know, and if I could’ve done something different to help them out I would’ve, absolutely, and the other kids that were there, that had to do with the killing, I never seen those kids around here before, only the two, the boy that was on the ground and the kid that was with him," said Giselle Barrero. "So yeah, it made me feel real sad."
