Two people were killed when a small plane crashed at an airport in Lantana in Palm Beach County.

Two people were killed after a small plane crashed at Palm Beach County Park Airport in Lantana Sunday night.

Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office officials said deputies responded to the crash shortly before 9:30 p.m.

When deputies arrived, they found the plane engulfed in flames. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responded and extinguished the fire.

Footage from the scene showed the small plane torn to pieces about 1,000 feet from the runway.

Officials said the bodies of two men were found in the wreckage. Their identities haven't been released but a friend identified them as a flight instructor and student.

Officials said the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board were responding to investigate the crash.
