The victim left the school to seek medical assistance, police said.

Williams was arrested without further incident, according to authorities. Police did not immediately say what may have led to the aggression.

Darcheema Pierce, Williams' mother, said he has special needs and has been in special needs classes since the first grade.

“He’s a good student. He gets straight As and Bs. He’s very respectable. He’s very respectable," the mother said.

She and Williams' grandmother appeared before a judge in Williams' hearing.

“I don’t understand why the teacher is not arrested because the teacher grabbed him first and he responded," the grandmother told the judge.

"He did say he put his hand, jacked her up, but at the same time she ain’t have no business putting her hands on him," Pierce told NBC6. "If she had a problem with him, she had my number, my mom’s number, everybody phone number."

Williams is facing a battery charge and was allowed to leave jail without bond. He was ordered to stay away from the teacher.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools said they were aware of the incident but did not provide further information.
