A 13-year-old boy has died after reportedly being shot in the head inside a home in Miami Gardens on Saturday night.
Miami Gardens Police officials said the shooting happened inside a home along Northwest 207th Street and 38th Avenue around 7:40 p.m.

According to police, several children were in a room playing video games when they somehow got a hold of a gun, and it went off, hitting the boy in the back of the head.
The boy was reportedly airlifted to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in critical condition before he was pronounced dead. His name hasn't been released.

Police say at least one adult was at home at the time of the shooting and several people are detained for questioning.
Detectives are working to figure out how the firearm got into the hands of the minors.
“A lot of people do have firearms these days and it’s up to us to ensure that if we’re going to have firearms in our home, to keep them locked up and make sure they stay away from the reach of kids,” said Miami Gardens Police Sgt. Emmanuel Jeanty.

Case in point, a Hollywood man appeared before a judge earlier this month after his 6-year-old son accidentally shot himself in the arm with a gun the father allegedly left out in the open.
In September, authorities said a 10-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed himself in North Miami with his father's gun.
That same month, 3-year-old Serenity Deleveaux was seen on surveillance video moments she accidentally shot herself in the hand.
The gun was reportedly left out on the couch by a relative.
