A man died after authorities said he crashed an SUV through a barrier and then into a lake in southwest Miami-Dade early Friday.
It was around 2:40 a.m. when the driver of a Nissan SUV drove through a barrier and into a lake at Southwest 167th Avenue and 42nd Lane, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said. The scene is south of Bird Road outside the Towns at Grand Lake Estates community.

A dive team with the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office went into the water and was able to pull out the driver, who was rushed to the HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His identity was not immediately released.

The vehicle was driving through a street that dead ends at the lake, but neighbors say the guardrail at the end is particularly hard to see at night and there is no signage.
Skid marks can be seen on the roadway now in the daylight. Residents said drivers often come by too fast and have to screech their breaks to avoid hitting the guardrail.
