The man was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center, where he died from his injuries, police said. His name was not immediately revealed.

NBC6 crews saw yellow evidence markers typically used to mark bullet casings. Police tape sectioned off the area, and a group of people embraced at the scene. Their possible relationship to the deceased was not immediately known.

Resident Laquanna Jackson said she woke up to the gunfire but didn't realize what it was at first.

"What was that? But I didn't come outside, I got my small children, I didn't come outside," she said. "It's sad, it's very sad."

Lester Person, who lives several blocks from the scene, said he's had enough with the violence in the neighborhood.

"People standing at the food truck, who would've ever guessed in their mind, they never would have guessed 'this is the last few minutes of my life'…it needs to end," he said.

Authorities do not currently have information on a suspect and are asking anyone with information to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
