Lost Your Job? JetBlue Will Refund Your Ticket

Lost your job and wondering how you're going to afford that vacation you've got planned?

If you booked a flight on JetBlue between Feb. 1 and June 1, starting today JetBlue says it will issue a refund for your ticket.

Of course, saving that Caribbean vacation for another time would sure be the responsible thing to do with this job climate. But no one's gonna blame you for deciding to run away to a tropical idyll to drown your woes in a coconut filled with alcoholic goodness.

To take advantage of JetBlue's Promise Program, customers must notify the airline and request a full refund at least two weeks before the first day of travel. The customer who purchased the flight can request a refund for up to nine customers traveling on one reservation.

The program is part of an effort to spur early bookings as consumers pull back on travel amid a gloomy economy, especially since JetBlue fares are generally nonrefundable.

In an e-mail to the Associated Press, Calyon Securities analyst Ray Neidl noted some car rental companies already offer similar programs.
