This Spring Shake Shack will get some competition from the mean streets of NYC. Opening on Lincoln Road (at Drexel) is 5 Napkin Burger, a Hell’s Kitchen original that opened in 2008 and was then named Best New Burger of 2009 by the Time Out New York ‘Eat Out Awards.’ Executive Chef Andy D’Amico and partner Robert Guarino, “set out to carve a new niche by creating an upscale American restaurant that uses the burger as its starting point.” There’s a burger for everyone with menu offerings ranging from the “all-American” bacon cheddar, to a turkey burger inspired by the Italian countryside. Veggie, lamb, tuna…there’s even a burger salad for Miami’s bikini set avoiding carbs. The “butcher shop chic” décor includes white tile walls, chalkboard murals, and a smattering of meat hooks hanging from the ceiling, so we hope no one knows what you did last summer. Rumors slate the official ready date for some time in April or May, marking this as the second location outside of New York in the 5 Napkin growing empire. A location is scheduled to open in Boston late next month. Get those napkins ready.
