Feel the Burn: “Burn Notice” is Back in Miami

USA’s "Burn Notice's" cameras rolling in Miami again for upcoming season, making the locals very, happy

If you’re former-spy-on-the-lam Michael Westen, chances are you always feel like someone is watching you. (cue Rockwell’s ‘80s ode). And, if you’re Jeffrey Donovan who plays Michael Westen on USA’s “Burn Notice,” chances are you’re right. All eyes were on the “Burn Notice” star as the show took over the historic streets of Morningside to film the upcoming season. Residents of the Miami neighborhood camped out in front yards and driveways to see what the show, which centers around a rejected spy keeping a low profile in Miami, has in store for its new season.

Donovan, who plays the show’s main character, hit the Miami blogs recently when he was spotted working out at ME Fitness in Wynwood. On set, however, he traded in muscle-building activities for a muscle car, as he and uber skinny Gabrielle Anwar revved some engines, did a chase scene and fired a gun in the historic neighborhood.

“Burn Notice,” which keeps things authentic by actually filming in Miami, rather than a studio lot made to look like Miami, is on the up and up with locals—especially considering the show dishes out thousands of dollars to homeowners willing to fork over their lots for the week.

Donovan even took time away from filming to pose for pics with the locals loitering the set. Since “Burn Notice” started filming in Miami in 2007, local gossipers all praise the cast’s down-to-earth ‘tudes (no diva’s here).

It’s a reciprocated relationship, as Anwar explained to thetvaddict.com, “Having grown up in Europe and shooting a lot in Eastern Europe, Miami is truly quite luxurious. It’s very indulgent. I’m a big fan of the tropical weather.”

And we’re a big fan on Anwar and the rest of the cast filming in Miami. Y’all come back now, ‘ya hear.
