Bobby Brooks joined the NBC 6 news team in July, 2013. He’s new to South Florida, new to the south in general.
He has spent the majority of his life living north of the Mason-Dixon Line in southwest Pennsylvania.
However, Bobby is thrilled at the opportunity to come here and work with an outstanding staff at NBC 6. He’s even more honored to share the many stories of those living in South Florida. as well.
Bobby is a proud Nittany Lion graduating from Penn State’s College of Communications in 2010. He has earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism. There Bobby received national recognition in the Hearst Journalism Awards Program for a report on the potential impact Marcellus Shale gas drilling could have on central Pennsylvania’s world class trout fishing. He’s also a proud alum of Penn State’s award winning student run newscast The Centre County Report. While in college Bobby also had a chance to intern at CBS News in New York City with the show 48 hours Mystery.
Bobby got his start in broadcasting as an anchor and reporter at WETM-TV in Elmira, N.Y. There he met many wonderful people and thanks them for making his time in upstate special. He hopes to do the same here. So if you ever have a story idea don’t hesitate to contact him or feel free to just say hello!
