It's A Christmas Story with a South Florida twist.
A Palm Beach man was arrested on Christmas for shooting a boy in the chest with the pellet gun the kid got for Christmas to teach him a lesson in the dangers of toy firearms, according to TCPalm.com.
Christopher Cady, 39, was charged with child abuse for capping his stepson after the boy shot his autistic cousin in the butt with the pellet gun. The police report doesn't say if the gun was an official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot range model air rifle with a compass in the stock, and this thing which tells time, but it would be awfully ironic if it was.
According to the police report, Cady said he shot the boy "to show him what he felt like and that getting shot with a pellet gun hurts."
Tough love, perhaps, but the little Grinch may have had it coming. The boy, whose name probably isn't Ralphie, suffered a bruise on his chest from where the bullet hit but no serious damage.
Maybe Cady would have been better served to force the boy to watch the 24-hour marathon of A Christmas Story to show him what happens when you get a BB gun for Christmas.
Everybody knows you'll shoot your eye out - or get popped in the chest.
