D-Wade Groovin' But Not for Media

Summer Groove Media Day is canceled but summer camp is still a go

Dwyane Wade is back in Miami, but it looks like he won't be talking to the press until after he signs with a team.

Wade's appearance at the Summer Groove Media Day, scheduled for Tuesday morning at 10:30 at Nova Southeastern University, was canceled but a press release that went out late Monday night did not say why.

The Heat superstar was supposed to speak at the event and even do a Q & A with the media. The Groove, also hosted by former Heat star and Wade friend Alonzo Mourning, kicks off on July 14.

Also today is the first day of Wade's summer basketball camp, and Wade Twittered Monday that he was still planning on attending.

"Back in MIA excited about the D. Wade All-Star Camp starting tmr - Thurs. Only open to boys and girls b/w 7-18," he wrote.

When Wade showed up at the camp, on the campus of Nova Southeastern University, he was met by four busloads of Heat employees who chanted "We want Wade! We want Wade!"

"I see I can't get rid of you all," Wade replied. "I thought I dodged you all yesterday."

Wade was talking about his return to Miami Monday, where he missed out on a welcome party at the airport after the group went to the wrong terminal.

He was spotted later in the day heading into American Airlines Arena with Heat owner Mickey Arison, hopefully to iron out the last details of a contract to stay in the Magic City.

Wade's decision on his future is expected to be made later this week.

Though he could be gone by the end of the week, Wade seemed to bask in the outpouring of love the Miami fans have been showing him since he became a free agent.

"I appreciate it," Wade told the chanting crowd Tuesday. "You all know I do. Thank you, guys."

At Wade's camp, participant Nelson Hernandez from Coral Springs probably spoke for all of Miami when asked if he had a message for Flash: "Please don't leave."
