“I'd Get Lost in His Belly Button:” The Week in Quotes

Petition to mic up Damien Berry at all times is underway.

Even without the Dolphins playing, it's been a colorful week in Miami sports. The usual supect is here, of course, still talking about that war of words from last spring (and he'll do it until it stops being funny, so just get comfortable), but he's not alone. Here's what they're saying:

"Eugene is the one that cries when Lion King's father dies.''
-- Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder on Joey Porter's multiple personalities

"I know I couldn't do that. You put me out at tackle, I'd be like a dog at a meat shop. I'd be all over the place."
-- Dolphins left guard Justin Smiley, on how fellow lineman Nate Garner played four different positions against Carolina last week (center, left guard, right tackle, and tight end)

"I might get lost in his belly button, but I'd find my way out.''
-- Crowder, on what would happen if he fought Jets coach Rex Ryan

"My Facebook is pretty crazy right now. To get that much publicity, it's something you just dream of."
-- UM running back Damien Berry, in the midst of a breakout season after a switch from safety

"Dwyane was trying to claim that was an assist. I told him, 'not a chance.'"
-- Heat coach Erik Spoelstra on the Dwyane Wade's last second miss that Michael Beasley dunked for the win Wednesday in Orlando

"When it touched my hands, I was just thinking, 'Dunk it.'"
-- Michael Beasley, who could just as easily be speaking of Oreos or a donut

"You’re going to know I ran through you. I’m going to talk to you. I’m going to look at you. I’m going to let you know that I got you and tell you that you better come harder than that.”
-- Berry, on his running style

"I didn't really like it at the start of my career because I thought I was just a big goon. Now I get paid to protect my teammates. When you get a relationship with your teammates, they're part of your family. You kind of take it personal when someone screws around with your family."
-- The Panthers' Steve MacIntyre on his role as an enforcer

"We were coming out [of the locker room after halftime] and Duke was just cheering, singing songs, basically like they've got this game won. Right there, that kind of lit a flame inside my soul. I was like, 'I can't let this happen.'"
-- Hurricanes quarterback Jacory Harris, who rallied for a 34-16 defeat of Duke

"No, [he's] non-confrontational."
-- Crowder, when asked if maligned return man/reciever Ted Ginn, Jr. was "soft" because of his tendancy to run out of bounds
