Looking for the perfect gift for your Marlins-obsessed loved one? Marlins outfielder Logan Morrison has just the one-of-a-kind piece of memorabilia for you: the hard cast he just had removed from his left foot, signed by every member of the team.
Morrison had been wearing the cast since he strained his left arch last week in a game against the Pirates. The cast was removed Monday, and he is now wearing a boot on his foot. He was cleared to ride an exercise bike and is optimistic that he will be able to rejoin the team as soon as he is eligible to come off the disabled list on May 5.
Having shorn his hard cast, LoMo decided not to let it go to waste, and told reporters Monday he plans to auction the cast on eBay and donate the proceeds to the American Lung Association.
Morrison's father died of lung cancer last year.
Morrison was carrying his used cast around the Marlins' clubhouse yesterday, asking every teammate to sign it. Someone should have told him the proper move is to ask your teammates to sign the cast while you are still wearing it.
Morrison has yet to list his cast on eBay, but when he does, we will finally have an answer to the eternal question: What do you give the person who has everything?
