Miami-Dade Police released video showing the struggle between several officers and a man inside a Southwest Miami-Dade fast food restaurant – a struggle escalated when the man appeared not to be fazed after multiple shots from Taser guns.

Joaquin Labaut was taken into custody and booked on 12 counts, including multiple counts of battery on an officer. The 35-year-old was out of jail on bond for a previous case of battery on a law enforcement officer.

Video obtained from the Miami Herald shows Labaut inside the store near SW 117th Avenue and Dixie Highway in Cutler Bay on Wednesday arguing with employees before running into the kitchen area, where he was followed by two female officers.

Footage shows the officers trying to get Labaut to surrender, telling him multiple times to get on the ground while Labaut terrified employees. A male officer can be seen striking him with a baton in an effort to subdue Labaut, who eventually made his way back to the dining area despite continuous Taser shots.

Labaut was eventually taken into custody by police. MDPD Director Juan Perez told the paper the officers showed restraint in the situation.

"They chose not to up the use of force under the circumstances,'' he said. "It ended well.”
