The man who was arrested in the shooting death of his teen girlfriend allegedly sent disturbing text messages to the victim's sister, Amadonne Gabriel, after the murder, according to an affidavit.
"I did not mean to kill your sister but f--- you I aint worried scared of nothing tell them to come for me. I am ready. I am ready to die and I am killing anybody and anything that moves. Tracy was a mistake but the next wont be."
Jay Stubbs, 18, was booked into a Miami-Dade jail Wednesday morning, charged with second-degree murder in the death of 16-year-old Tracy Gabriel.
City of Miami detectives say Gabriel was at a friend's apartment at 1525 Northwest 1st Place just after midnight Tuesday when she and her boyfriend began arguing.
According to Uyoukevia Clarke, the owner of the apartment where the murder happened, Gabriel was in the living room watching TV with Stubbs when they started arguing. The victim grabbed a knife from the kitchen to defend herself at which point Stubbs pulled out a handgun, pointed it at Gabriel's face and shot one time.
"It was a senseless argument between a young couple that escalated and ultimately she was slain," said Detective Kevin Ruggiero.
Gabriel's sister, Amadonne Gabriel, spoke out Tuesday, describing Gabriel as a terrific sister, daughter and mother.
"She liked to listen to music a lot, she was a dancing person and now she's gone," Amadonne said. "It's a tragedy."
Tracy Gabriel left behind a 4-month-old baby. Amadonne Gabriel said Stubbs is not the father.
Stubbs is being held without bond.
