Weeks after a former owner of some Presidente Supermarket stores who was wanted in the 2011 killing of his wife's lover was captured in Spain, authorities have arrested his son in South Florida for allegedly helping his father while he was on the run.
Yaddiel Marin, 32, was taken into custody early Thursday on allegations of accessory to murder, the Miami Herald reported. Miami-Dade jail records showed he was charged with accessory after the fact and was being held on $2 million bond Thursday.
Yaddiel Marin is the son of Manuel Marin, who was taken into custody in Spain in August after years on the run and is facing trial in Miami. Yaddiel Marin owns and operates many of the supermarkets once operated by his father.
"His financial support from Miami is what allowed his father to remain free in Spain all these years," Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said at a news conference Thursday.
Manuel Marin is one of four suspects in the June 2011 murder of 43-year-old Camilo Salazar, the secret lover of Marin's wife Jenny Marin. Also accused in the plot are former mixed martial artists Alexis Vila Perdomo and Ariel Gandulla, and fight trainer and promoter Roberto Isaac.
Vila-Perdomo and Isaac remain in custody in Miami-Dade, but Gandulla is believed to have fled the country.
"This was a Lifetime movie in real life. The only difference here is that people were really getting hurt, people really died. People really bled and really were tortured," Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez said.
Salazar's body was found on a dirt road in the Florida Everglades in northwest Miami-Dade. He was bound, beaten, tortured, had his throat slashed and his body was partially burned, according to a police report.

Authorities say Marin fled the country shortly after the killing. He now faces charges including second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and kidnapping.
Presidente is one of the fastest-growing Hispanic grocery chains in the country.
