Authorities are investigating after a woman's body was found in an Opa-locka canal Thursday.
A city spokesman told NBC 6 the body of a black female was spotted at Northwest 18th Avenue and Wilmington Street in the canal.
He said the body was badly decomposed.
Homicide detectives with Miami-Dade Police are taking over the investigation.
The body was being transported to the Medical Examiner's Office.
No further details have been released.
