Police are investigating after a mother and her young daughter were found dead in Fort Lauderdale Tuesday morning.
The discovery was made at a home in the 2000 block of Northwest 29th Terrace.
Police said they responded to the home after getting a call from a family member and the found the bodies of the woman and her 9-year-old daughter.
Fort Lauderdale detectives identified the mother as Ericka Bellamy Joseph and the daughter as Akili Joseph. Relatives said they believe it was a murder-suicide, and that Ericka Joseph, a former Marine, had a hard time adjusting to civilian life.
"We recently started noticing minor changes but not to a significant point that it would distress, that it would be something of this nature, to take a life," brother Tony Williams said.
Police haven't said how they died and no other information was immediately known.
