Shooting was domestic related, no threat to community: Police

A man shot and killed a woman and then turned the gun on himself inside a Boca Raton bank building Wednesday morning, police said.

The shooting happened shortly after 9 a.m. on the fifth floor of the Comerica Bank building at 1675 North Military Trail. The shooting occurred inside the CBIZ MHM accounting firm, police said.

Boca Raton Police said a man, identified as 63-year-old Scott Edgerton, shot and killed 56-year-old Sharon Bellingham then shot himself. Bellingham was the marketing director of the accounting firm.

Edgerton and Bellingham had been married for 27 years, police said. Edgerton had retired from the Faulk Center for Counseling about a year ago.

The couple have two adult children, and they were very close to their friend of more than 20 years Jack Glus.

"They are nice people. I'm so upset right now. I just don't understand why this happened," he said.

Glus said: "We went over for a part couple months ago. Everything was fine."

Police are still investigating the incident.

A telephone message left at CBIZ wasn't immediately answered.
