Nine years ago today, there were shock waves across the NFL and South Florida after the shooting death of University of Miami and Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor.
The football player, who was only 24, was gunned down during a burglary at his Palmetto Bay home in 2007. He was at home with his long-time girlfriend, Jackie Garcia and their 18-month-old daughter when an armed intruder entered the home. While Jackie and the baby hid under a bed, Taylor was shot in his femoral artery. He died a few days later.
All four people involved in the murder and burglary were convicted and sentenced to prison.
The NFL, players and other celebrities took to social media Sunday to pay tribute to Taylor on the somber anniversary.
