Monroe County Sheriff's Office detectives were called to a small plane crash Thursday evening.
Authorities said the plane crashed while attempting to land at Tavernaero Park Airport, a small private airport in Tavernier off U.S. 1.
MCSO said one person, the pilot, was on board and was not injured.
The Florida Highway Patrol will be investigating the crash, and the FAA has also been notified.
Authorities said when the plane crashed, it struck some phone lines in the area of Plantation Avenue. Residents in the area may experience temporary problems with their service.
No further details about the crash have been released.
