A large sinkhole opened up on a Fort Lauderdale road early Monday morning after a water main break.
The sinkhole formed when the 6-inch water main broke around 4:30 a.m. in the road near Davie Boulevard and Southwest 24th Avenue, officials said.
"The water main broke and it poured into the storm drain and undermined some soil underneath the road and that's why we have the sinkhole," said Matt Little, with the City of Fort Lauderdale.
The sinkhole was estimated to be about 15 feet wide.
"The good news is there's no service interruptions at all so there will be no boil water notice needed," Little said.
