The search for a missing 22-year-old woman who was washed into the sea by rough waters is expected to continue Sunday.
Savannah Rey Finn of Fort Lauderdale, was on vacation visiting the Island of St. Thomas with her boyfriend this past week.
According to reports, Finn went missing Friday evening when her and her boyfriend were washed off rocks at Peterborg Point. Finn's boyfriend was able to climb back onto the rocks and was later rescued.
Chief Liston Thomas of the St. Thomas Rescue said Finn went face down into the water and had appeared to be lifeless, and the high surf and rough waters prevented his members from rescuing Finn during the search.
The investigation and search of this incident is ongoing.
Florida International University, where Finn is a student, released the following statement Monday: "The FIU family is saddened to learn about the disappearance at sea of Savannah Rey Finn, a senior at FIU studying criminal justice. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends."
