"These red light runners were caught on camera via our Pembroke Pines Red Light Cameras," the Pembroke Pines
Police Department said on Twitter. "We're sharing these crashes and near misses to bring awareness to problematic red light running, and to increase the safety of our streets."
The department continued to talk about the purpose of a yellow traffic light. 
"DRIVERS, the yellow/amber light means SLOW DOWN, not speed up," the department tweeted. "Don't take the chance and risk your life 
and the lives of others by speeding through an intersection." 
More than 700 people died in 2014 due to red-light running crashes, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. 126,000 people were injured.

“When I approach the traffic lights in this area, and there are warning signs that there are cameras, I’m not going to run a red light because it’s not worth it. It’s a lot of money to see the red light, so I’m very weary and I would rather hit the brakes and stop,” said John Gavronsky, a driver.

The department contined to tweet about the importance of slowing down when the light changes to yellow. 

"DRIVERS, the yellow/amber light means SLOW DOWN, not speed up," the department said. "Don't take the chance and risk your life and the lives of others by speeding through an intersection."

“You have to think about what’s going to happen if you don’t pay attention,” said one officer.
