Doral Police Department patrol cars lined the parking lot of a local motorcycle shop late Monday night. Over the weekend, a silver pickup truck carrying a team of thieves pulled up and made off with an item worth big bucks.
Surveillance video from six cameras shows a driver ramming the truck into the garage door at 8650 NW 58th St. multiple times.
"They couldn't get inside because we had a forklift and an iron gate behind it," said Rod Alvez, DMS Racing's general manager.
The suspects had a plan B, though. A person in a red hooded-sweatshirt appears to be carrying some kind of tool in his hands. Alvez said he believes it is a pair of wire cutters used to snip the locks to the doors of a trailer and van. The vehicles held half a dozen bikes, including a bright green 2013 Kawasaki ZX10. That was the only bike the thieves took.
The bike is not street legal. It is designed specifically for a race track. Alvez say it's anyone's guess why the suspects wanted it.
"Parts? Or a joy ride? Or to show, ' Look what I got?" he said.

Alvez was heartbroken as he watched the custom-made bike built for speed slowly glide across the parking lot in the surveillance video.
"I don't even have words to say what I feel right now," Alvez said.
His team recently moved from Europe to South Florida to compete in the U.S. full time. On Saturday they should have been racing the bright green beauty on a track in Homestead. They were supposed to be gearing up for the Daytona 200, which Alvez described as "the Nascar of professional bike races." That national race is just a few weeks away.

"We need to race. We've been putting a lot a work into the bike to represent Miami, represent Doral," he said.

It's not the first time thieves have pulled this move. In October the same garage door was rammed open, and motorcycles were left strewn all over the shop. Two dirt bikes were taken.
"It looks like it's the same guys," said Alvez, because of the similarities involved.
DMS Racing has since installed multiple surveillance cameras around the shop, which recorded the suspects in action over the weekend. The team is now offering a $5,000 reward for tips leading to the bike's return.
