NBC 6’s Michael Spears reports on the investigation into the fatal shooting of a woman in Hallandale Beach Tuesday.

A Hallandale Beach family is mourning the loss of their loved one who was shot and killed outside of her grandmother’s home overnight.

Family members told NBC 6 that 24-year-old Marlena Turnquest was standing on the porch of the house near Southwest 4th Street and 7th Avenue when they heard her scream, followed by the sound of two gunshots.

"I heard the shot, it woke me up. And as I got up I heard another shot, I heard another shot and I heard her scream out 'oh no!'" said the victim's grandmother, Dorothy Bolt. "I tried to talk to her, but she was shot in the head so she didn't respond to me."

Turnquest would die at the scene. Bolt said that her granddaughter was moving to North Carolina this weekend.
