After days of relentless rain across South Florida, officials in Broward are planning mosquito spraying throughout the county.
The spraying of larvicide will be conducted using trucks beginning Monday through August 4 in the northern region of the county, the Mosquito Control Section announced Friday. Some areas of Parkland, Coral Springs, Margate, North Lauderdale, Tamarac and Sunrise will be targeted.

The spraying will target the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, which is known to carry transmit the Zika virus.
There are no active Zika cases in the county, and the areas chosen for spraying are based on a number of factors including requests from the Florida Department of Health, population and number of women of childbearing age live in the areas, officials said.
The county urges residents and business owners to remove any standing water on their property to prevent mosquito breeding, bites and diseases.
