Miramar Firefighter Hospitalized After Truck Hits Downed Power Lines

A Miramar firefighter was hospitalized Monday after their fire truck hit a low-hanging power line that shattered the windshield, trapping three firefighters inside.

Florida Power and Light cut off the power in the area of Miramar Parkway between Fairmont Boulevard and Douglas Road so the firefighters could be rescued, according to Miramar fire officials.

The power line was hanging low due to a previous crash that had happened moments before, according to Miramar fire spokesman Jose Gregorisch. The truck hit the lines while responding to an unrelated call.

The firefighter was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. The other two firefighters were not hurt.
