A married high school principal from Palm Beach County was arrested in Florida after police caught her in a car with a student and marijuana - and her shirt was unbuttoned.
NBC affiliate WFLA reports that Krista Morton, 45, has been charged with possession of marijuana. She is the principal at Mavericks High School, and the 18-year-old in the car with her is a senior at that school.
According to the report, North Palm Beach Police were called to a parking lot Wednesday just before 6 p.m. amid calls that two people in a parked car were either "engaged in some sort of sexual activity or being attacked,” police said.
When a sergeant knocked on the door, Morton opened it and immediately told police "we're just friends."
Morton's shirt was unbuttoned, and part of her shoulders and chest were exposed, police say.
The student admitted Morton was his principal, but Morton attempted to tell police that she did not know the young man in her car.
“She continued to tell me that she had just met him, that she was lonely, she had just picked him up down the street and brought him here to get to know him,” police tell WFLA.

An arrest report states that police could smell the "odor of fresh burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle."
Morton didn't admit to smoking but did say marijuana was smoked in the car. Police found a bag with marijuana, a lighter and rolling papers pushed underneath the back side of the passenger seat. The student also had a grinder, additional lighters and a small screwdriver.
Both Morton and the student were placed under arrest.
It is not known if either has hired an attorney.
