Police are investigating after a father of two was shot and killed while mowing his lawn in Miami Gardens Tuesday.
The shooting happened around 12:30 p.m. in the area of 176th Street and Northwest 14th Avenue.
In an eerie coincidence, right next door years ago, a father and son were also shot and killed in their front yard.
The struggle that lead up to Tuesday's shooting was captured on surveillance video.
The victim has been identified as Curtis Smith, 61, a respiratory therapist at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
The video shows what appears to be two people approach Smith as he was mowing his lawn.
They look like they're talking, then there is a scuffle. Smith is seen running off camera. Police say he was shot moments later. He died at the scene.
Neighbors describe Smith's wife huddled over him, the same neighbors whose family was struck by a similar tragedy in 2013. A father and son shot and killed in the driveway next door.
In that case, a car pulled up, someone got out and sprayed a barrage of bullets before speeding off. The suspects were never caught.
