An armed thief who tried to rob some people in a Plantation park wound up dead when one of the would-be victims shot and killed him, police said.
The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at Multi-Cultural Park on Northwest 43rd Avenue, Plantation Police officials said.
According to police, three residents were sitting in the park when they were approached by two men who tried to rob them at gunpoint.
One of the residents, who has a concealed weapons permit and was armed, shot one of the robbers, while the second suspect fled the scene, police said.
The suspect who was shot died near the scene. His name wasn't released. Police said they're looking for the second suspect.
