Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Richie Incognito has been suspended from the team, and his jersey now appears to have been suspended from the team's online store.
Fans that visit the Dolphins Pro Shop can search for player memorabilia by typing that player's name into the search box at the top of the page. For instance, a search for "Mike Wallace" generates 12 items of memorabilia, including jerseys and a signed helmet.
But a search for Richie Incognito generates an error message reading "We were unable to find an exact match to your search." It is unclear when the Dolphins actually removed the Incognito jerseys from the store. Google's cached pages service shows that as of October 28, the jersey page on the Dolphins Pro Shop included two Incognito jerseys for sale.
Incognito was suspended from the team indefinitely on Sunday night for conduct detrimental to the team. Martin left the team last week after a reported prank in the team cafeteria.
In the days since the Dolphins played their last game, the situation surrounding Incognito's alleged treatment of Martin has ballooned into a league-wide controversy. The NFL is conducting an investigation at the behest of the Dolphins.
"Any type of conduct (or) behavior that detracts from that objective is not acceptable and is not tolerated," head coach Joe Philbin said on Monday. "If the review shows that this is not a safe atmosphere, I will take whatever measures are necessary to ensure that it is."
