New information has been released on the Florida International University head women's basketball coach accused of sexual misconduct by a student.
University officials released a statement Friday saying Coach Marlin Chinn, 45, has been fired after he admitted to providing impermissible benefits to a student-athlete, violating NCAA bylaws.
The coach's termination comes after the team's captain accused him of sexual misconduct. Destini Feagin, 22, said Chinn made inappropriate advances towards her in person and via text messages during the season.
Feagin told the Miami Herald she was suspended for four games as punishment for resisting Chinn's sexual advances. She claims he told her "I have sexual fantasies about you," the Herald reported.
The student also provided details of a $600 loan from Chinn, and a recorded conversation with the coach.
University officials confirmed Friday that the complaints against Coach Chinn came shortly after the player was suspended from the team, because police had opened a theft investigation against her.
FIU said the sexual misconduct investigation will continue.

Chinn was in his first year at FIU after spending six years as an assistant coach at Maryland. Tiara Malcolm will continue to serve as the Interim Head Coach and a national search for a permanent head coach will begin immediately, according to university officials.
