Authorities are looking for a group of suspects accused of tossing a firework into a Deerfield Beach Wendy's, startling a worker and causing damage to a wall.
The incident happened the night of July 5 at the fast food eatery on W. Hillsboro Boulevard and was caught on the restaurant's surveillance camera, Broward Sheriff's Office officials said.
The video shows a worker sitting at a table as the lit firework is tossed through the door. Smoke is seen coming out of the firework before it suddenly explodes just feet away from the worker.
Officials said the blast caused a 7-inch hole in the base of a wall. They described it as a "Roman candle-type firework."
No one was injured.
"They could've caused a lot of damage," BSO spokesman Joy Oglesby said. "They could've injured someone if not even themselves by handling this firework."
The restaurant released a statement responding to the incident:
Local

Detectives believe eight to ten young males are responsible for the blast and they're asking anyone with information to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
