A man was hospitalized in critical condition after he drove into a Deerfield Beach canal and was pulled from his car by firefighters and a deputy Thursday night.
The incident happened just before 8 p.m. at a canal along Interstate 95 near Hillsboro Boulevard, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue officials said.
Authorities said the driver, 25-year-old Dominic Christopher of Cape Coral, was heading southbound on I-95 when he lost control and veered off the roadway.
Officials said five BSO fire rescue workers and a BSO deputy responded and jumped into the water, and were able to break a window and pull the driver out of the fully submerged car.
