Authorities responded to a head-on, crash in Weston Tuesday evening that killed four people.
It happened around 9:30 p.m. on U.S. 27 northbound, just north of I-75, in Broward County.
The northbound lanes of U.S. 27 at the crash scene were blocked to traffic.
The Florida Highway Patrol said four people were killed in the crash. A fifth person was airlifted to the hospital.
FHP said two vehicles collided head-on. There were reports that multiple victims had to be extricated.
The driver of one of the cars, 27-year-old Nathan Lee Wine, was killed in the crash. A second driver, 67-year-old Hermis Ruiz, was also killed in the crash.
Two passengers in Ruiz's car, 62-year-old Daisy Zayas and 63-year-old Ines Zayas Pena, were also killed.

A third passenger, 69-year-old Minerio Ruiz Torres, was hospitalized in serious condition, according to a FHP report.
According to the report, a Volvo driven by Wine was traveling southbound in the northbound inside lane when it collided with a Toyota driven by Ruiz.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
