An elderly woman has died after a fire broke out early Thursday evening at a home on Miami Beach.
Violet Camacho witnessed rescuers pulling her 100-year-old neighbor out of the burning building.
"The fire trucks pulled in front of my driveway, there was a lot of smoke coming out," Camacho said. "As I'm trying to pull out of my driveway I saw them pull out the neighbor who lives next door."
Fire crews arrived to find flames shooting out of the two-story house.
"Our units made an interior offensive attack, and we were able to go ahead and locate the victim," said Jesus Sola with Miami Beach Fire Rescue. "We were able to bring her out, which we transported to Mount Sinai."
Officials said the woman died en route to the hospital.
Despite arson investigators at the scene, firefighters said the blaze appears to be an accident. Arson investigators are routinely called anytime there is a fatality as a result of a fire.
