Colombian urban super star Maluma is in Miami to help kick-off the inaugural match of the newly formed professional soccer club, Miami FC.
The 22-year-old Grammy nominee is set to perform prior to the first whistle and then again during halftime at the Ocean Bank stadium at FIU where Miami FC will play for the first time against the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
Maluma who once thought about becoming a professional soccer player himself in his home country expressed his excitement and says he’s looking forward to performing for music and soccer fans at FIU.
"I cannot wait to join the team and fans of Miami FC for its home opener. Ever since I was a kid I've loved soccer, so I'm honored and excited to be able to perform at the game. It's going to be a special night and I'm looking forward to being on stage, singing in front of so many fans and seeing Miami FC win its home opener."
Together the Miami FC and the No. 1 Latin Billboard chart topper who boasts 10.7 million followers on Instagram hope to deliver a memorable and explosive performance for fans in Miami.
"It's fantastic to have the support of such an influential artist like Maluma for our home opener," said Cesar Velasco, Miami FC General Manager. "Tickets are selling fast and with Maluma joining us, we're expecting a great turnout for our historical home opener."
The announcement of the self-proclaimed Pretty Boy Dirty Boy's performance in Miami comes just days after the club's youth soccer program initiative set to provide complimentary tickets to all local registered youth soccer players for every home game at FIU.
