A police pursuit that started in Lauderdale Lakes after a hit-and-run crash ended with an SUV in a watery sinkhole in Lauderhill Monday morning, officials said.
The incident began when a woman was struck by a white truck in the 4700 block of Northwest 24th Court in Lauderdale Lakes around 6 a.m., the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
The woman, identified as 68-year-old Betty J. Greene, was taken to Broward Health Medical Center in stable condition, the BSO said.
Lauderhill Police said the truck was involved in the brief pursuit and ended up hitting a fire hydrant on 22nd Street between 41st and 49th Avenues.
