Police are investigating after a man's body was pulled from a lake on the campus of Florida International University Tuesday morning.
FIU Police officials confirmed that the body was recovered from the lake on the Biscayne Bay campus around 8 a.m.
He was identified as 30-year-old Otniel Jean, according to Miami-Dade police. Officials said they believe he is not a member of the university community.
Miami-Dade Police will be handling the death investigation, and said they are working to determine if the person was part of a group who were playing soccer on campus over the weekend, after the group reported that their friend had gone missing.
Police said there were no signs of foul play. It's unclear how long the man had been in the lake.
"As of right now it’s not pointing at any foul play, however unfortunately it is a person who died in a lake so they’re definitely going to investigate it, they’re going to get to the bottom of it, and hopefully give this family some type of closure as to what may have happened here today," Miami-Dade Police spokesperson Argemis Colome said.
