Miami Fire-Rescue was called to the River Run Condos and Yacht Club on Friday for reports of a boat fire in the marina.
It happened around 6:30 p.m. at 1700 Northwest North River Drive.
Fire crews arrived to find a 29-foot Regal pleasure craft fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in about 20 minutes.
Some boats in the marina were relocated as a precaution to prevent any further damage.
According to a resident, lightning was observed striking the vessel moments before flames erupted.
Although the fire was extinguished, fire crews were concerned with the amount of fuel and fumes that were still lingering in the area. Layers of foam were applied across the water, and power was shutdown to the marina, until the fumes dissipated.
The owner of the vessel was not there at the time of the fire. There's no word on how much damage was caused.
