Authorities are looking for a "bedraggled stranger" who abducted and raped a 16-year-old girl as she walked to school in Fort Lauderdale.
The incident happened around 7 a.m. Monday morning near the 2800 block of Northwest 14th Street as the girl was walking on the sidewalk, Broward Sheriff's Office officials said.
The suspect seized the girl by the head and covered her eyes and mouth with his hands, as she struggled but was unable to break free. He then dragged the girl from the street to a nearby grassy area where he raped her, officials said.
Officials released a sketch of the suspect, who was described as a black male in his 30s with young facial features and slanted eyes. He has a disheveled, dirty mustache and dark beard with light brown tips, and black and dirty matted hair with light brown tips.
A reward of up to $3,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
